Before you find out there's a hurricane coming, be prepared: 

cut 5/8" thick marine plywood for windows and have Plylox™ clips ready
practice regular tree trimming to remove dead or damaged branches


Important Papers (need to be ready to go at all times and in a waterproof bag)
social security cards
birth and marriage certificates
deeds
homeowners and insurance policies
address book
wills

shot records 

Copies Of

    credit cards
    bank and investment info
    diplomas
    professional credentials

       

      Things to Do
      refill prescriptions
      back up computer

        fill car with gas (along with extra 5 gallon container)
        unplug tvs and small appliances
        brace doors leading outside and close all interior doors

          put refrigerator on colder setting

           

          Other Items to Bring
          medications/first aid kit

            extra glasses, contacts, hearing aids
            state map
            water (2 gallons for each person)
            non-perishable food
            can opener
            toilet paper roll
            something to use as a portable potty
            small throw (to hang in the window for protection from the sun)
            sentimental items (family heirlooms, special jewelry, baby books, family photos)
            battery operated radio with extra batteries
            sleeping bags or blankets
            flashlight with extra batteries
            special items for infants, elderly, or disabled
            ponchos
            solar blanket
            computer back up
            children's activities (handheld games, cd players, coloring and reading books, extra batteries)
            extra clothes
            sunscreen
            permanent marker
            pets and their food, bowls, leash, medications, and records


            After you've left the area safely, put your children's name and a relative's phone number on the inside of their shoes.
